microEEG™ System - Description
The microEEG™ System is a miniature, semi-disposable, wireless clinical platform technology capable of recording electroencephalograms (EEG) that is fast, portable, and easy-to-use. The system employs BSG-developed high-fidelity digital wireless electrophysiological recording technology, which simplifies the recording process and makes EEG and its interpretation possible in scenarios which were previously not feasible.

Development of the microEEG™ System is supported by funding from the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The BSG staff has expertise in neuroscience, neurology, emergency medicine, electrical engineering, software development, and product design. We also maintain an ongoing collaboration with medical device industry and FDA regulatory consultants.

The Bio-Signal Group microEEG™ System has not been approved for marketing by the FDA.

U.S. and other patents pending.
Technical Description
The microEEG™ system is a 26 channel digital electroencephalography (EEG) collection and wireless data transfer device that is designed for use mobile (ambulatory), field applications, polysomnography (sleep testing), as well as hospital environments. The system digitizes analogue EEG signals collected by 3rd party electrodes, amplifies them, and using Bluetooth® wireless connectivity transfers the physiological data for EEG to a dedicated host computer.

Note: The microEEG24 also copies the EEG information to a removable backup SD/flash memory card.

EEG electrodes are placed on a patient’s scalp. The electrodes detect electroencephalographic data and transmit it to microEEG24 which wirelessly transmits the amplified EEG data to the microEEGCtrl Collection Software installed on the user’s host PC.
Components
  1. ON/OFF Power Switch
This switch controls power to the microEEG™ system.
  2. Electrode Harness Input Connector
The signal lines from the 3rd party electrodes plug into this port.
  3. E1 and E2 Input Connectors
Signal lines from additional 3rd party touchproof electrodes (i.e. EKG)
    plug into these ports.
  4. LEDs (4)
These four (4) indicator lights convey information about system status
  5. Battery Charger Input Connector
This port is used to recharge the internal battery when used with the
    provided microEEG™ AC/DC battery charger.
  6. Micro SD Card
This portable memory card stores backup EEG data collected during
    recording.
  7. Micro SD Card Slot
This device writes EEG data to the SD card.

microEEGCtrl Collection Software
This program records and monitors EEG. In addition it captures patient information, allows for real-time annotations, monitors resistance levels, and converts the information to .edf file.

Note: microEEGCtrl collection software is not an EEG analysis or interpretation program.
