| Description |
Designed
to reinforce subject to alternate between goal-directed locomotion and
random foraging. A moving subject is reinforced to visit repeatedly a
preferred sector of the environment. Reinforcement (usually food delivery
to a random location) is based on user-defined preferred sectors. The
preferred sectors can be defined independently for each of two spatial
reference frames. |
| Features |
One or two frames of reference, The reinforcer (e.g. feeder) can be triggered
based on subject location and time, or the distance the subject has moved,
or on either a periodic or random schedule. The reinforcement can also
be the cessation of a negative stimulus to create an essentially dry version
of the water maze task as was used in Kentros et al (2004). |
